"A thesis statement appears near the beginning of a paper, and it offers a concise solution to the issue being addressed. It states the claim of the argument presented in a paper. A thesis statement is usually one sentence, though it may occur as more than one." This basically means that a thesis statement is basically your opinion that you are going to be wrinting about in your paper. Like if I had to choose a side if I wanted iPads or books in school, my opening sentence would be," I think iPads should stay in schools over books because..." And then you continue on your essay as such.

Yesterday in class we watch the movie Glory. I actually really enjoyed watching this movie because I liked the war scenes and how there was a story line behind the whole war. I think it was actually pretty interesting to learn how one man led a group of men to battles and basically his life story. I really enjoy watching these kind of war movies and hope that we watch more over the course off the class.

12-4-13

Yesterday we learned about the civil war and the differences between the north and the south. We learned what made them so different and why they believed war was the best answer for the situation. I think that the civil war was inevitable and that the big thing that made them so different was their outlook on slaves.

The civil war was tragic and both sides suffered major lose. In my opinion though I believe that the civil war was inevitable. The north and the south were just too different at the time and they both had very different opinions when it came to slavery. This much contract would create too much conflict and at one point it would blow up causing the civil war.

12-2-13

The result of the Mexican war was that California got admitted as a state, there was a very strict fugitive slave law, and many battles were fought to win back land. Another result was there was a treaty signed to make peace with Mexico. At this point in time America was kind of greedy when it came to the expansion of the United States.

The differences between the declaration of independence and the declaration of sentiments are very minor. These two declarations are declaring the rights of those who deserve it. The declaration of independence was declaring our independence against Britian in 1776. It said that all men are created equal and have natural rights that should be pursued. The declaration of sentiments was writin  by the women of America saying that we should have the same rights as men because we were also created equal and that god created us from the garden of Adam and Eve and that we are the same.

11-19-13

Julius Caesar was king of Rome at one point befor he was murdered by senaters. I can compare him and andrew jackson in manny ways. They were both always looking for a battle or a new fight to start. This caused many people to dislike and even hate them both. They were also very crule when it came to when they were in charge. This caused the ,urder or caesar and the long lonely life for jackson.
I think that both men werevery cruel when they were in charge. Jackson caused thiusands of native americans to go down the trail of tears killing many from disease and conditions. Caesar was always at war with someone. He even caused a war with Brutus, one of his trusted friends. Thst just tells you that you could trust neither of them.

11-17-13

I think the story of amdrew jackson was actually pretty sad. I mean yes he became presedent, most people only dream of becoming that, but his life was full of sadness and death. His father died when his morher was still pregnant with him amd his mother and brothers died by the time he was 13. He was left all alone in the world as a boy having to fend for himself. When he got older he met a woman who was already married but the teo loved eachother very much. She left her husband and ran away with jackson to start a new life with him. Eventually her husband filed for devorce because of her adultry. After the two were married they learned that they were unable to have children. When he became presedent people learned of her adultry and thought of her very differently. It even led to her killing herself because people basically shunned her. Jackson blamed the british for the death of every loved one he ever had.

11-13-13

Yesterday we learned about the market revolution and the difference between the north and south around the time of the civil war. We also learned about slavery and property owners. The plantation owners would use the slaves they "owened" to do their field work for them for free. They treated them as though they were property and saw them as items not as people.
I think that the market revolution was a good thing for economy but not such a good thing for workers and slaves. The market revolution was good because it helped improve our economy by making more factories. It was bad for the slaves and workers because slaves were forced against their will to do the work without pay and the workers they hired were mostly getting laid off because they could just have slaves to it for free or they had new factory machines to do their jobs for them.

11-12-13

The market revolution was basically the rise of immigration in the north and the use of factories rather than manual work. People began to use machinery for their work rather than hire workers because the job would get done more efficiently and wouldnt take as long as manual work.
I think that the market revolution was a good thing for factory owners but not such a good thing for the workers.the rise of machinery ment that there was less of a need for workers leaving more and more people out of work but the rise of industry was well needed for more manufacturing.

9/9/13

Ok, so on Friday we basically learned more about early America. We learned about the Spanish coming over to the new world and how them coming affected the native Americans already settled there. We also learned about disease and farming and the early life in both Europe and the native Americans. We watched a video on how everything came together.
I think this subject is pretty cool. I liked the video, but the guy who made it was talking wayyy too fast. This unit should go by pretty fast and the tests should be easy hundreds. I don't really like how the Spanish tries to change everything about the Indians way of life. The Spanish referred to them as,"not even human." They wanted them to change their religion to Christianity and thought their god was wrong. I don't think they really had a right to do that to somebody, no one does.
